MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 Power Bank News: DGCA Ban, IndiGo Flight Fire and Battery Safety Concerns in 2026

The MOBIKINS MK PB 04 power banks have become a major topic of discussion in India following a recent aviation safety incident that raised concerns about portable battery devices. On October 14, 2026, reports confirmed that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had prohibited the carriage and transportation of the MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 power bank on flights operating to, from, and within India. The decision followed a fire incident involving a power bank aboard an IndiGo flight, bringing renewed attention to battery safety, product certification, and the importance of checking electronic accessories before travelling. <FileCite ref_id="turn416981search1" />

The development is particularly important for consumers who use power banks to charge their smartphones, tablets, wireless earbuds, and other portable electronic devices. Power banks are convenient for daily use, but the latest incident highlights why product quality and battery safety should be considered alongside price, charging speed, and capacity.

What Happened in the MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 Power Bank Case?

The recent news emerged after an IndiGo flight travelling from Delhi to Chennai on October 11, 2026, was diverted to Hyderabad following a reported power bank fire inside the aircraft. The device was reportedly located in an overhead luggage compartment, and the crew responded to the situation before the aircraft landed safely in Hyderabad. Reports stated that no injuries occurred, although the aircraft required further checks and passengers had to continue their journey on an alternative aircraft. <FileCite ref_id="turn416981search2" />

Following the incident, the DGCA issued a restriction specifically naming the MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 model. The directive prohibits carrying or transporting this device on flights to, from, and within India. The restriction covers passenger baggage, including cabin and checked baggage, as well as air cargo.

This is an important distinction: the restriction applies to the specified model, not to every power bank available in the Indian market. Consumers using other models should still follow the latest applicable aviation safety requirements and their airline's instructions.

Why Has the MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 Power Bank Become Trending?

The main reason behind the sudden attention is the connection between a consumer electronic accessory and an aviation safety incident. Power banks are widely used because smartphone batteries can run low during long journeys, office hours, outdoor activities, and travel.

However, many consumers focus primarily on battery capacity, charging speed, design, and price when choosing a power bank. The recent news has encouraged people to pay closer attention to the exact model number, battery condition, and safety certification of their devices.

The incident has also increased public interest in questions such as whether a power bank is permitted on an aircraft, whether its certification is valid, and how passengers should respond if a battery begins overheating.

For this reason, searches related to the MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 power bank are connected not only to the specific product but also to wider discussions about portable battery safety and airline regulations.

What Does the DGCA Restriction Mean for Passengers?

Passengers travelling by air should check their power banks before packing their bags. Anyone who owns the MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 should not carry it on a flight operating to, from, or within India, whether in cabin baggage, checked baggage, or as air cargo.

Passengers should also understand that airline battery policies can change in response to safety concerns. Checking the latest instructions from the airline before departure is a sensible step, especially when travelling internationally or connecting between different carriers.

For other permitted power banks, passengers should follow applicable rules concerning battery capacity, baggage placement, and use during the flight. Recent aviation guidance has placed greater emphasis on keeping permitted power banks accessible rather than storing them in overhead compartments.

If a power bank becomes unusually hot, swells, produces smoke, or develops a burning smell, passengers should not ignore these warning signs. During a flight, they should alert the cabin crew immediately and follow the crew's instructions rather than attempting to handle a battery fire themselves.

Why Can Power Banks Catch Fire?

Most modern power banks use lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery technology. These batteries store considerable energy in a compact space, making them suitable for portable charging. Under normal operating conditions, properly manufactured and undamaged batteries can be used safely.

Problems can arise when a battery is damaged, defective, improperly assembled, exposed to excessive heat, or subjected to an internal short circuit. In certain circumstances, the battery can experience a process known as thermal runaway. This occurs when rising temperatures trigger reactions that generate additional heat, potentially leading to smoke, fire, or rupture.

Physical damage is one possible risk. Dropping a power bank, crushing it inside luggage, or continuing to use a swollen device may compromise its safety. Poor-quality components and inadequate manufacturing controls can also increase risks.

Charging practices matter as well. Consumers should use compatible charging equipment, avoid exposing power banks to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures, and stop using any device that shows signs of damage.

The reported incident involving the MOBIKINS MK-PB-04 does not establish that every power bank is unsafe. Instead, it demonstrates why battery quality, proper handling, and effective safety oversight are important.
